We set up Tierra in response to a need for credit insurance capacity dedicated to supporting green project finance transactions.
The combination of our insurance and banking expertise allows us to better understand the projects our clients support and to design the best insurance solutions to meet their long-term goals.

Tierra is led by individuals with deep knowledge and experience in the credit insurance and renewable energy banking markets. They’re supported by a team of professional service providers who make it possible for Tierra to provide a full-service underwriting model for our clients.
Andrew Beechey
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Andrew has worked in the credit insurance market for 25 years. He has combined this career with a Masters in Climate Change, Policy and Development to better understand the key climate change issues and the solutions needed for a decarbonized future, particularly in the energy sector.
DIRECTOR
Gerard Pieters
Gerard has worked for 15 years with a leading European bank in the renewable energy project finance market, originating and structuring project financing loans across many markets and technologies. Through this first-hand experience, he has built deep knowledge of all renewable energy technologies and understands what banks require to bring competitive financing structures forward.
Penny Philpott
SENIOR UNDERWRITER
Penny has over 10 years’ experience working in the project finance market at leading European banks. She has worked directly with projects during their financing, construction and operational phases, across various sectors, primarily in the renewable energy space.

Tierra is a Managing General Agent (MGA) in the UK that underwrites on behalf of three capacity providers, Westfield Syndicate 1200, Ascot Syndicate 1414 and Everest Insurance Ireland DAC. For European business, Tierra is an insurance agent based in Belgium.
Tierra provides underwriting services on behalf of each of these partners for credit insurance related to green project finance transactions.
Tierra is supported by Pro MGA Solutions Ltd who provide regulatory oversight, compliance and back office services.

Tierra provides long-term credit insurance for individually selected projects right across the world. We underwrite on behalf of our capacity providers, who must be rated A+ to qualify as one of our insurance partners.
